A respected building services engineering consultancy based near London Bridge is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its expert team. About the Role
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will lead mechanical design projects from concept through to completion, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, and energy-efficient building services solutions. The successful candidate will play a key part in project coordination, client engagement, and mentoring junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design on complex projects across various sectors
- Prepare design specifications, drawings, and schedules for HVAC, public health, and associated systems
- Conduct technical design reviews and oversee quality assurance
- Liaise with architects, structural engineers, and other consultants to integrate building services into designs
- Attend and lead client meetings, site inspections, and progress reviews
- Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians
- Ensure compliance with UK and international building regulations and sustainability standards
- Support the delivery of BIM Level 2 compliant designs where required
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
- Minimum of 7-8 years' experience in mechanical design within the built environment
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership (CIBSE, IMechE, or equivalent)
- Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, IES, and Hevacomp
- Strong knowledge of relevant UK and international codes and standards
- Excellent client-facing, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively
