The main purpose of the role is to learn and develop business-related competencies through supported practical experience in the workplace. In the role, you will provide effective business support across all Severn Arts activities, combined with college-led learning, in order to become an effective Business Administrator.

Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Start at 9.00am, finish at 5.00pm, 4.30pm on Fridays. Self-study day to be Wednesdays. College monthly release. 30 minute lunch break. 37 hours a week.

What you’ll do at work:

  • Provide excellent customer service, ensuring that this remains a high priority at all times.
  • Act as point of contact for telephone and email enquiries, ensuring they are resolved or redirected as appropriate.
  • Input and process data accurately using Office 365 and other relevant information systems.
  • Assist with monthly expense administration.
  • Take minutes at monthly Business Support Team meetings and follow up any actions that arise.

Training:

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills. Skilled in the use of multiple IT packages and systems relevant to the organisation in order to write letters or emails, create proposals, perform financial processes, record and analyse data. Examples include MS Office or equivalent packages.

Your training plan:

Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard: Majority of the training will take place at Severn Arts in Worcester. College sessions will take place one day a month at the Worcester Campus and online weekly sessions in the workplace.

Requirements:

  • GCSE in Maths (grade 4).
  • Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have.

Other requirements:

Training will include learning about the organisation, its values and how to work in a customer-focused environment. It will also focus on how to deal with and/or direct enquiries; process orders; use in-house IT systems as well as Office 365; manage logistics such as travel and hotel accommodation for colleagues; arrange and attend meetings; take minutes; use external IT programmes and apps.

Severn Arts, a thriving charitable arts company formed in June 2018, brings high quality music and arts to a wide range of people across Worcestershire. We lead Herefordshire and Worcestershire's Music Education Hub, funded by Arts Council England, teaching music in all types of education settings, on our travelling Music Box and in our music groups, bands and orchestras which meet outside of school.

There may be the possibility of a permanent role within the team at the end of the apprenticeship depending on business need and circumstances.
