Role: Health and Safety Audit & Assurance Officer
Grade: SEO
Important Information: There are 3 regional positions available:
- Midlands, Wales, and South West regions
- North and Scotland regions
- London and South East regions
Roles involve working at HMCTS sites across your region, with occasional travel nationwide. Shortlisted candidates will confirm their preferred location before interviews and will have the opportunity to finalize their base location during onboarding.

About The Role
As a Health and Safety Audit & Assurance Officer within HMCTS HQ, you will provide expert advice and assurance on health and safety to senior duty holders, testing safety performance and reducing incidents to foster a safer work environment.
Your responsibilities include:
- Developing an audit/assurance framework to ensure legal and moral obligations are met regarding health, safety, security, and wellbeing.
- Conducting site audits across regions and the UK, promoting safety culture through stakeholder engagement.
- Providing strategic safety challenges to business leaders and managing expectations of stakeholders.
- Shaping and influencing safety strategies aligned with business priorities.
- Managing audit processes with effective stakeholder communication.

Person Specification
Essential:
- NEBOSH Certificate and experience in health and safety audits/inspections
- Member or working towards Chartered membership of IOSH
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
- Highly organized with flexibility to travel within your region
Desirable:
- ISO 45001 auditor qualification (training provided if needed)
- Understanding of tribunal or court operational risks
- Experience engaging with senior management and developing policies
- Management experience of a small team
- Full UK driving licence
