Are you a dedicated and compassionate qualified teacher looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of autistic children? Five Education is working with a specialist SEND provision in Bristol that caters specifically for pupils with autism and complex communication needs. We are seeking a passionate teacher who can create engaging, accessible lessons and support pupils to reach their full potential in a nurturing, structured environment.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a well-resourced setting with small class sizes, a high staff-to-pupil ratio, and a strong emphasis on individualised learning and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, personalised lessons tailored to the learning profiles of autistic pupils, in line with EHCP targets
- Use a range of strategies including visuals, sensory support, and structured routines to enhance learning and communication
- Collaborate closely with TAs, therapists, and other professionals to support pupils' social, emotional, and academic progress
- Use positive behaviour support and autism-specific approaches to promote emotional regulation and independence
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, families, and the wider school community
Requirements:
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent
- Experience teaching children with autism and/or other complex learning needs
- Knowledge of autism-specific strategies (e.g. TEACCH, PECS, visual timetables, sensory integration)
- Patience, empathy, and adaptability in a structured yet flexible teaching environment
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- Right to work in the UK
