We are seeking an individual to join our Life and Health (L&H) valuation team in London, focusing on the Continental Europe (CE) portfolio. About the Role
- Support the quarterly valuation process to assist in the preparation of reserve and income statement submissions for internal and external reporting on IFRS17 and Swiss statutory bases. This includes helping with analysis, explanation and commentary of reserves and P&L movements.
- Support the review and consolidation of valuation results by gathering relevant information and helping ensure clear communication and documentation of findings.
- Contribute to management activities such as recaptures and changes in treaty terms, while proactively managing the in-force portfolio from an actuarial perspective.
- Work closely with teams across Finance, Products, and Client Markets, becoming a key member of the market cross-functional team. Effectively communicate results and insights to internal stakeholders.
- Assist in organising tasks and workflows while learning from and supporting more experienced team members.
About the Team
The CE actuarial valuation team is part of L&H Actuarial and Risk Management, and is made up of around 35 people, split between Zurich, Bangalore and London. The team’s remit covers all L&H business written in our Continental European markets and therefore involves working with a wide range of internal stakeholders in various functions. Key objectives of the team are the delivery of robust and transparent quarterly financial results, supporting active management of our in-force portfolio to help maintain our L&H ROE, and delivering improvements in operational efficiency – including alignment to one global way of working, and system landscape.
About You
- Advanced actuarial student (study package provided).
- Some experience in L&H valuation, pricing or related actuarial work in reinsurance, primary insurance or consultancy, ideally at an early-career or entry-level stage.
- Understanding of at least one of the following reporting regimes: IFRS 17, EV or MCEV.
- Confident working with MS Excel. Knowledge of MS Power BI and/or database software would be considered an advantage.
- Teamwork - able to build working relationships across technical disciplines, and work effectively across the L&H value chain (including non-actuaries).
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain findings clearly and contribute to discussions with internal stakeholders under guidance.
