My client who are a leading manufacturer within their field is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector / Certification technician to join their team due to continued growth and expansions. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and growing business.
Quality Inspector / Certification and Calibration Technician Requirements:
- Time served through a recognised engineering apprenticeship with a proven precision engineering background
- Previous inspection experience with good knowledge of dimensional and geometric tolerances and able to use conventional inspection equipment, such as micrometers, vernier calipers, height gauges
- Ideally have experience of calibration and material certification
- Able to read and accurately interpret engineering drawings
- Experience of working with stainless steel and mild steel components
- Proven ability to manage time effectively and work to tight targets and deadlines
- Able to demonstrate problem-solving ability
- Strong IT skills including using MS packages including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Experience of MRP systems
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards
- Excellent numeracy, literacy, communication and organisational skills
Quality Inspector / Certification and Calibration Technician Duties:
- Review and endorse material certification documents to ensure compliance with purchasing requirements, customer quality standards, engineering drawings, and specifications
- Perform goods inward inspections, checking incoming parts and materials against defined standards and documentation
- Use conventional inspection equipment (e.g., micrometers, vernier calipers, height gauges) to carry out precise dimensional and geometric inspections
- Interpret and verify engineering drawings to confirm component compliance
- Inspect stainless steel and mild steel components for conformance to specifications
- Maintain and update the company’s calibration database and documentation
- Perform in-house calibration of measuring tools and equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Arrange for third-party calibration where external certification is required
- Record and report inspection findings clearly and accurately, including any non-conformances
- Collaborate with the quality and engineering teams to resolve inspection and certification issues
- Ensure compliance with relevant quality standards, company procedures, and customer requirements
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the inspection and quality assurance processes
- Ensure traceability and proper documentation of all inspected and calibrated items
- Maintain a clean and organized working environment, adhering to health and safety standards
