Their Networks and Innovation team has played a significant role in that development, with specialist studies in network planning and design, data analysis, and the development of innovative planning tools and services. They will be continuing to expand and grow the team to keep pace with the growth in this sector. They are now seeking to appoint a Director of Networks to lead this development and growth.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Department management fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Business development and client relationship management to:
- Identify new business opportunities and areas for growth with well-established existing clients
- Maintain a healthy pipeline of work for the department
- Foster continuing good relationships with our existing clients and understand their current and future needs
- Participate in industry forums and events
- Mentoring and development of team members
- Recruitment and training to ensure the department has the resources and skills to deliver for our clients
- Giving guidance and advice in project management and technical delivery of the work.
- Staying abreast of industry trends and developments
- Being an integral part of the team's annual strategic planning and delivery of the agreed plan.
The candidate
The successful candidate will have technical expertise in power system planning and analysis and a good understanding of the GB power system. This role is suited to an experienced power systems engineer with management experience who is keen to lead, develop, and inspire a growing team of ambitious engineers.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience working in the regulated energy industry
- Prior experience of working in a consultancy environment or procuring those services as a client
- Proven track record in leading and managing technical teams
- Experience in business development and client-facing activities
- Ability to engage with clients, forming long-term and mutually beneficial relationships
- Commercial awareness of consultancy projects, including setting and adhering to project budgets, scrutiny and understanding of contractual obligations, and identification and mitigation of commercial risks.
