The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

We have a brand-new position for a Health & Safety Officer to join our client in an established and successful company. You will ensure compliance with health and safety regulations across all company sites, promote a culture of safety, and implement effective policies and procedures to minimise risk and maintain a safe working environment for Team Members and visitors. This role is part time or full time (4-5 days per week), 30 to 39 hours, and permanent, based in Banbury (office based). There will also be some travel required, as needed, to other sites.

As Health and Safety Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing, implementing, and updating health and safety policies, manuals, and procedures in line with legislative requirements
  • Planning and carrying out site safety audits, inspections and risk assessments to ensure compliance
  • Documenting the findings and implementing or assigning the necessary corrective actions
  • Regularly reviewing and updating risk assessments, ensuring they remain relevant and effective
  • Assisting in identifying training needs and shortfalls
  • Providing training on basic H&S at a local level
  • Promoting a culture of safety awareness, educating Team Members to understand their duty and responsibilities
  • Delivering awareness training sessions to existing and new Team Members
  • Coordinating incident and accident investigations, determining root causes, and ensuring appropriate corrective actions are put in place to prevent recurrence
  • Maintaining records of all incidents and accidents
  • Being the main point of contact for all health and safety enquiries
  • Advising on health and safety laws, regulations and directives
  • Supporting and participating in the planning and execution of health and safety initiatives
  • Producing regular health and safety reports, identifying trends, and exploring and recommending potential improvement opportunities
  • Maintaining accurate records of health and safety activities including training records and other relevant documentation to ensure compliance
  • Staying updated with all relevant health and safety regulations
  • Traveling between company sites to provide health and safety support and ensure compliance
  • Adapting policies and procedures to suit specific needs of each site
  • Participating in H&S meetings
  • Carrying out any other reasonable duties as may be reasonably requested by the Line Manager

The position carries the responsibility for carrying out all duties to the required standard as indicated by the Line Manager and professional codes of conduct and regulations.

As Health and Safety Officer, you must be/have:

  • Proven previous experience in a similar role
  • Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate in Health and Safety or equivalent
  • Knowledge and understanding of UK health and safety laws and regulations
  • Ability to carry out effective investigations, audits, inspections and risk assessments, and compile reports and recommendations as appropriate
  • Excellent communication skills - including written, verbal and listening skills
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Diligence and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and within teams
  • Ability to prioritise workload and use initiative
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Full and valid UK driving licence to be able to travel to multiple sites
