MC Technical Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Shift Team Leader to join the operations department of a modern biomass power station near Sittingbourne, Kent. This plant processes over 170,000 tonnes of waste wood a year producing around 23MW for the national grid.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage the shift team effectively to ensure the site meets its operational targets in a safe and efficient manner.
• Supervise a shift team of Control Room Operators and Fuel Loaders, ensuring safe and efficient operation of the plant.
• Ensure the plant is operating in line with the site\\\’s environmental permit.
• Manage the safe systems of work as a site SAP for issuing permits.
• Manage shift team resources to ensure effective training and development of operational staff.
• Liaise with the maintenance department when required to ensure minimum downtime and maximum operational availability.
• Carry out all activities with the highest regard for health and safety.
• Deputise for the Operations Manager when required.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Experience at Shift Team Leader / Production Team Leader / Lead Operator or similar in a power generation environment. This could be energy from waste, biomass, coal, CCGT etc.
• A relevant engineering qualification such as NVQ/HNC/apprenticeship etc.
• Ideally experience as a Senior Authorised Person.
• Experience with coordinating and supervising work activities including shift staff and site contractors.
• Proven leadership skills.
• Good practical understanding of health and safety processes and procedures.
• A willingness to work on a shift pattern that involves 12-hour shifts.
