My client is a fast-growing, dynamic Managing General Agent (MGA) backed by A-rated insurers and trusted by brokers across the UK. They specialise in building bespoke schemes and delivering non-standard, specialist, and niche insurance solutions. With a strong track record in portfolio underwriting and a wide appetite across property & casualty, they simplify complex insurance placements through data-driven insight and customer-first design.
As their portfolio continues to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Senior Underwriter to join our team – someone commercially astute, technically strong, and ready to take a step up into a portfolio management-focused role.
The Role
This is not your average underwriting job. Reporting into senior leadership, you’ll play a pivotal role in:
- Leading portfolio and scheme management initiatives across our product lines
- Liaising with insurer partners on capacity, performance, and governance
- Conducting scheme audits and ensuring compliance with delegated authority agreements
- Supporting the development and refinement of underwriting standards and frameworks
- Working closely with product development on the implementation of new schemes
- Handling referral cases and offering technical expertise to support junior underwriters
- Analysing MI to monitor performance and profitability across the portfolio
You’ll also act as a key link between underwriting operations and strategic delivery – helping shape scheme creation and evolution.
Skills:
My client is open-minded and if you have the right experience, they want to meet you. Ideally, you’ll bring:
- Solid commercial lines underwriting experience, including portfolio or scheme-based work
- Exposure to delegated authority arrangements and capacity management
- A blend of technical competence and commercial acumen
- Strong relationship-building skills – comfortable engaging with brokers and coverholders
- Experience with auditing, scheme governance, or performance analysis
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organisational abilities
- ACII qualification (or working towards it)
- An eye for continuous improvement and a common-sense approach
Why Join?
Join a specialist MGA that’s growing fast – and where your voice will be heard. Be part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team. Take ownership of meaningful work, not just referrals and renewals. Competitive salary + potential future management responsibilities. Work in a culture that values innovation, pragmatism, and professionalism.
