Central Employment are working exclusively with an expanding eCommerce Interiors Retailer, as they look to appoint a Head of Sales, reporting into the CEO.

Head of Sales role: Responsible for the development and performance of all offline sales activities. Guides and directs the sales team and provides leadership towards the achievement of maximum profitability and growth in line with company vision and values.

Head of Sales responsibilities:

  • To work with the CEO to create a Sales strategy that ensures attainment of company sales goals and profitability.
  • To lead the Sales team to operate effectively and that the functions’ activities are aligned to Departmental and Company objectives.
  • To ensure that all Sales enquiries are satisfactorily actioned and closed.
  • To ensure that the Sales function is adequately staffed and trained to deliver an efficient service to customers.
  • To actively promote and manage the process of continuous improvement for the Sales agents through regular 1-2-1s to understand training and development needs.
  • Work with the Head of E-Commerce to set and monitor team/individual performance targets and KPIs aligned to the bonus scheme.
  • To work closely with Operations Manager to ensure all orders quoted for are accurate and achievable to match the customer’s expectations, whilst achieving profitability targets.
  • To work with Supply Chain manager, advising on stock/best sellers/low sellers/new product requirements.
  • Delegate authority and responsibility with accountability and follow-up.
  • Set examples for the rest of the Sales team in areas of personal character, commitment, organisational and selling skills, and work habits.
  • Conduct regular coaching and counselling with Agents to build motivation and selling skills.
  • Source, interview and recruit new Sales & Service Agents when required.
  • Create and sustain a positive team environment displaying high levels of motivation and excellent team spirit, accompanied with regular staff incentives.
  • Participate and contribute to relevant management meetings.
  • Promote effective communication throughout all levels of the Sales function.

KPIs to include:

  • Customer Retention & Repeat Custom
  • Call answering on time / Lost calls %
  • Net Promoter Score (NPS)

Experience required:

  • Recent and proven experience within a busy commercial B2C & B2B customer service and sales environment.
  • Operated within the FMCG sector.
  • Excellent people management, leadership, coaching and motivation skills.
  • Excellent planning, organising and prioritising skills.
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems using own initiative.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
  • Demands high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong focus on results and achieving targets.
  • Track record of producing high quality, accurate work under pressure.
  • Exposure to a fast paced online trading environment.
  • Experience with CRMS/ERPS/Websites.
  • Patient and calm demeanour but with an assertive and confident manner.
