Key Responsibilities of the Wills and Probate Solicitor: Drafting straightforward and complex wills, including those involving discretionary and life interest trusts. Advising clients on estate planning and asset protection, including tax-efficient strategies. Preparing and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney for both financial and health-related matters. Managing the full probate process from application through to estate distribution. Dealing with inheritance tax returns and liaising with HMRC where necessary. Advising on trust creation and providing ongoing administration support. Reviewing and amending existing legal documents to ensure they reflect current legislation and client intent. Supporting clients with sensitive issues in a compassionate and professional manner. Requirements of the Wills and Probate Solicitor: Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with a minimum of 4 years\β PQE in wills and probate/private client law. Sound knowledge of estate planning, trusts, and the probate process. Excellent client communication skills with a strong sense of empathy and discretion. Ability to manage a busy and varied caseload independently. Strong organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail. STEP membership or working towards it would be advantageous, but not essential.
