Job Description:
On behalf of our client, NRL, we are recruiting for a Distribution Team Lead in the Hull area.
Duration: 3 months contract
Location: Hull
Hours: 4 days per week – 12-hour shifts on rotation. Day Shift: 6am-6pm. Night Shift: 6pm-6am.
The Team Lead will report to the Local Distribution Manager (Hull) and is responsible for assisting in daily operational management of drivers at the Hull Liquid Bulk Terminal. The role includes providing EH&S, Transport, Operational, and Quality support to ensure activities are conducted efficiently and in compliance with safety, quality, and service standards within the Sub-Region Industrial Gases Organisation.
Main responsibilities include coordinating and providing well-trained driver resources to meet customer and operational requirements, supporting HR activities such as note-taking in meetings, ensuring compliance with legislative and company requirements for transport operations, and driving improvements in costs and compliance using key metrics.
The position also involves out-of-hours support for other terminals across the country, handling driver reports, issues, and queries, and supporting scheduling and planning teams.
Accountabilities include:
- Ensuring safety standards and processes are maintained on sites and for personnel and vehicles.
- Ensuring license compliance, including truck maintenance, defect reporting, tachograph compliance, and record keeping.
- Supporting disciplinary investigations and note-taking during hearings.
- Planning and coordinating driver training, including CPC, ADR, refresher courses, and assessments.
- Driving operational productivity through driver coaching and suggesting efficiency improvements.
- Managing vehicle accident responses and out-of-hours support activities.
- Providing feedback on out-of-hours activities and shift summaries to management.
- Participating in maintaining good industrial relations and managing reports related to drivers and vehicles.
- Debriefing infringements, reviewing system videos, and supporting drivers nationwide through a helpline.
- Performing BSP activities such as audits as required.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in distribution and knowledge of transport legislation.
- Experience in supervising a team.
- Experience building relationships with industrial relations representatives.
- Transport Manager Certificate (preferred, not essential).
- Driver license, ADR, and Driver CPC (preferred, not essential).
