Base pay range

Salary and grade: £44,747 – £51,005 per year, Grade 6

Duration of role: Permanent

Location: The designated office base is Abbey House, Abingdon. The councils operate in a truly flexible, and hybrid way where the focus is on outcomes not where you work.

About the role and what we’re looking for

The Property Operations team provide Property and Facilities service across both Councils for the general public and for internal customer departments, using a Corporate Landlord model.

The types of buildings and the customers being served include: –

• Arts centres – Cornerstone in Didcot and Beacon in Wantage.

• Council offices, providing staff accommodation and public reception

service.

• Community centres

• Leisure – includes leisure facilities and outdoor swimming pools.

• Housing – hostels, houses, mobile home parks

• Public toilets

• Other land and facilities, including closed church yards

The DCL Projects Officer will work closely with colleagues in the Property Operations wider team and other departments such as the Technical Services team – responsible for car parks, flood alleviation, sewage pumps and engineering services, and Development and Property Strategy teams – specifically providing any Facilities or maintenance needs for sub-let

About you

Your essential skills, knowledge and experience

• Experience of budget management and monitoring

• Effective IT, written and verbal communication skills, and a good level of numeracy

• Experience in planning and programming works required to maintain buildings in good order

• Experience of managing construction and maintenance projects to a wide range of commercial/corporate buildings and infrastructure such as car park resurfacing, public toilet refurbishment, footpath repairs, retaining wall repairs.

• Familiarity with procurement process

• Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements for managing works

• Knowledge of CDM responsibilities for works

• Experience of developing and implementing strategies and annual action plans

• Experience of establishing and working with asset registers

• Knowledge of working on Carbon and Energy efficiency projects.

• Knowledge and understanding of working in a local government context

• Experience of writing specifications for repairs and improvement works to corporate/public buildings and infrastructure such as car park resurfacing, public toilet refurbishment, footpath repairs, retaining wall repairs.

• Qualified to A level or higher education standard or relevant equivalent experience

• Desirable – to be, or willing to be, working toward a property or building related formal qualification

If you have the following experience or qualifications – it’s a bonus

• Experience of working within a local authority environment

• Knowledge of local authority governance and approval processes
