Job summary
To supervise the smooth running of daily activities within the Aseptic unit, provide assistance to other pharmacy staff, and support activity as both a preparative operator and \’in-process\’ checker. To undertake planned work under the supervision of the Senior Technician, Lead Technician Technical Services. Work will be supported by the provision of clear standard operating procedures.
Applicants may be considered for progression from Band 2 to Band 3 upon successful completion of the Level 2 Pharmacy Services Qualification and relevant departmental competencies.
Main duties of the job
- Clinical Responsibilities:
- Carry out departmental cleaning of the aseptic suites following the scheduled procedures, maintaining up-to-date records.
- Set up rooms and aseptic manufacturing cabinets prior to manufacture.
- Final packaging of aseptically prepared products, ensuring safe practice as per departmental procedures. Store products appropriately until final release by the Pharmacist.
- Work within departmental SOPs to meet priorities set by the Lead Technician, informing them if these are not achievable.
- Support the daily operations of the department, assisting with materials and support to ensure timely manufacturing.
- Set up sterile production batch ingredients and consumables.
- Conduct accurate stock level checks according to departmental policies.
- Supervise the setup of Aseptic batches, including pre-preparation identity checks.

Person Specification
Education & Qualifications (Essential):
- Level 2 (formerly NVQ Level 2) in Pharmacy Services, or registered as a candidate, or committed to registering and completing the units within 12 months.
- 4 GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths, English, and two other subjects.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities (Essential):
- Excellent team player, capable of working independently when necessary.
- Ability to perform tasks according to SOPs.
- IT literate.
Experience (Desirable):
- Previous pharmacy experience.
- Experience working in a \’Clean Room\’ environment.
