Reports directly to the Department Production Supervisor. Reports indirectly to the Department Lead Operator and/or Shift Lead Operator.
Job Dimensions
- Responsible for the safe operation of manufacturing equipment to produce high-performance chemical adhesives.
- Perform in-process laboratory testing to satisfy intermediate and finished product requirements.
- Compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
Activities
- Operates all equipment within your respective department (such as pressure vessels, mixers, blenders, extruders, coaters, etc.).
- Follow proper procedures for the handling, storage, and transfer of hazardous material.
- Performs preventive maintenance tasks as required.
- Responsible for accurate batch sheet administration and retain sample collection.
- Assist in updating documentation as required.
- Assist in other areas in manufacturing, as needed and trained.
- Conduct cycle counts, as required.
- Operates fork truck and material handling equipment.
- Fills out maintenance work orders in the event of foreseen mechanical problems.
- Responsible for incident reporting and communications.
- Use of computer for batch processing, data entry, and training.
Context and Environment
- Bostik is an OSHA Process Safety Management facility, and our process involves highly hazardous chemicals. All PPE requirements must be followed at all times.
- Works collaboratively with fellow department employees to solve problems and to ensure quality products are produced.
- Work in a fast-paced production environment where safety, accuracy, and attention to detail are required.
- Works with minimal supervision.
Accountabilities
- Practice safe work habits in accordance with OSHA and EPA guidelines.
- Follows written instructions and standard operating procedures to manufacture quality products.
- Complete all mandatory company safety training requirements: 4S, Safety Observations, Pure Safety.
- Document all activities in batch sheet and/or batch run sheet to document and communicate progress.
- Understand equipment failures and put actions in place to improve and prevent repeat issues.
- Responsiveness to internal departments and customers along with problem-solving and learning.
- Operators are responsible for data entry in systems tracking plant measurables.
- Responsible for completion of assigned daily tasks.
Qualifications / Experience Required
- High school diploma or higher education preferred.
- Demonstrates good safe work practices and involvement in safety programs.
- Experience in manufacturing operations is preferred.
- Committed to concepts of operator-driven in-plant lab testing, autonomous & preventive maintenance, problem-solving on the shop floor, 5S, etc.
- Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Experienced in working within a team environment.
- Adaptable to change and can lead change.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good leadership skills.
