A lady in her early 40s with a long-term brain injury requires a support worker to assist with everyday issues and household tasks. The role involves prompts to deal with correspondence, help with finances, and support to maintain her parenting role, enabling her to complete tasks involved. The support worker should be able to form a good relationship with her and gain her trust.
This lady has no mobility problems and does not require personal care. She may be forgetful due to her brain injury but has the capacity and wishes to care for her children. The support involves household and light domestic duties, such as putting washing away, cleaning the kitchen after use, and supporting her to keep her home tidy and safe. Occasional handyman tasks like changing light bulbs, assembling furniture, and reporting repairs may be required.
Applicants must be trustworthy, reliable, and flexible.
Breakdown of hours:
- 14 hours per week supporting all children (AM and PM) to maintain personal cares, nutrition, and hygiene
- 2 hours per week for domestic tasks and laundry
- 1 hour per week for shopping
- 1.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, to collect/drop off children at school = 18.5 hours per week.
- Additionally 10 hours per week during school holidays for 13 weeks
DBS and reference checks are required for this position, with costs covered by the local authority.
Travel: Some travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required. Applicants must be able to transport themselves.
