Maine Medical Center is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for the Cardio-Thoracic Surgical Telemetry unit. This is a full-time position with night shifts, requiring 3 12-hour shifts and weekends.

For a limited time, MaineHealth is offering sign-on bonuses for Clinical Nursing Assistants (CNA):

  • 0-1 years of experience eligible for $2,500 (full time)
  • 1+ years of experience eligible for $4,000 (full time)

Eligible candidates must be hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part-time CNA position. Bonus amount is prorated for Part-time hires; per diem hires are ineligible. Current MaineHealth member employees and former MaineHealth members (within 6 months of separation from employment) are ineligible.

Unit Bio: The stepdown unit houses cardiothoracic surgery patients, those awaiting surgery, or recovering. Med/Surg level of care is provided in the majority of beds, with intermediate level of care in IMC beds. This unit works closely with CTICU to provide additional critical care exposure and training.

Position Summary: Under the supervision of Registered Professional Nurses and according to defined policies and procedures, the CNA performs various service duties and technical tasks such as taking vital signs and assisting patients with basic hygiene and activities of daily living. Specific duties may vary by area of assignment, considering the special needs and behaviours of specific patient populations.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Education: Participates in continuing education relative to role as defined.
  • License/Certifications: Must be certified as a Nursing Assistant by the State of Maine and be on the State of Maine Registry, having completed a six-week or equivalent course.
  • Experience: 0-1 year, on-the-job training provided.
