Maine Medical Center Department: Nursing/Clinical Support

Schedule: Full-time, Day shift, 3 12-hour shifts, Weekends required

Sign-on Bonuses: For a limited time, MaineHealth offers bonuses for Clinical Nursing Assistants (CNA):

  • $2,500 for 0-1 years of experience (full-time)
  • $4,000 for 1+ years of experience (full-time)

Bonus eligibility criteria include being hired into a full or part-time CNA position; prorated for part-time. Per diem hires are ineligible. Current MaineHealth employees are ineligible; former employees are ineligible until more than 6 months after separation.

Unit Bio: R6 is a dynamic 24-bed neurosurgical/trauma unit with a 9-bed neuro-focused Intermediate Care Unit (IMC). Bean 2 is a 12-bed Total Joint Center. These units offer opportunities to care for diverse patient populations in a supportive, collaborative environment. R6 serves adults and older adolescents with neurological and orthopedic conditions, including head injuries, strokes, brain tumors, seizures, multi-trauma, and neurosurgical needs. IMC requires closer observation and teamwork. Bean 2 focuses on post-joint replacement care, part of a nationally recognized program with excellent patient satisfaction scores. This environment emphasizes teamwork, communication, a positive attitude, and proactive care. As a teaching unit, it welcomes new CNAs and learners, fostering a supportive team dedicated to high standards of care.

Position Summary: Under supervision of Registered Nurses, performs service duties and technical tasks such as vital signs and assisting with hygiene and activities of daily living, considering the needs of specific patient populations. The CNA - Acute Care assists in nursing care under RN supervision, performing direct and indirect care duties.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Current applicable state CNA license required
  • Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date
  • Relevant experience preferred
