Are you passionate about supporting young learners and making a difference in the classroom? Sense Education is looking to appoint a qualified Primary School Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Workington. This role is ideal for someone with knowledge of SEND who can bring both dedication and compassion to the classroom. A Teaching Assistant qualification or Degree level education is required for this position.

The Primary School Teaching Assistant Role:

  • Assist the classroom teacher with lesson preparation and classroom activities.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support and interventions for students and encourage them to engage in their learning.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive class environment, encouraging all children to reach their full potential.
  • Work closely with school staff and outside professionals to support students in their education.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, child-centred approach that nurtures individual strengths and needs.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications: A recognised Teaching Assistant (TA) qualification is required.
  • Experience: Ideally, experience supporting individuals with SEND, either in a school, care or other setting.
  • Skills: Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Attributes: Patient, positive, and committed to helping children grow in confidence and skill.

School and Logistics:

  • Mainstream primary school in the Workington area with a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere.
  • Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM Monday to Friday (we may also consider part-time applications for this position).
