Brainkind have a network of services across the UK that support people with acquired brain injury and other neurological conditions. Our neurological centres, residential homes, hospitals, and supported living services across the UK are there to help people wherever they are in their journey.

As a volunteer driver with Brainkind you will be supporting employees within the organisation, helping them to make a positive impact. You will be contributing to the smooth and efficient running of our services. This role would require you to be an experienced and competent driver. Minibus driver volunteers will need to have a driving licence which has category D1 which entitles them to drive vehicles with between 9 and 16 passenger seats. You must have a full UK driving licence and car insurance covering you to undertake the role. If you do not have these skills, then please do contact us to talk about other opportunities. Volunteers who drive minibuses are required to have an up-to-date MiDAS certificate. The cost of this assessment is paid for by the organisation.

As a Volunteer Driver you will provide reliable, safe transportation and help people to access services and activities within the community. Key activities may include:

  • Transporting individuals to and from appointments and activities in a timely and safe manner
  • Ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers during transportation
  • Maintaining a clean and well-maintained vehicle for transportation purposes
  • Communicating effectively with the people we support and employees
  • Following all traffic laws and regulations whilst driving and assisting passengers
  • Supporting individuals with embarking and disembarking from the vehicle as needed
  • Reporting any issues or concerns to appropriate employees promptly
  • Maintaining confidentiality and respecting the privacy of individuals

We hope you will volunteer 3 - 6 hours a week, but all our roles are flexible to suit you.
