Part-Time Faculty, Criminal Justice

Northwest Arkansas Community College is seeking qualified applicants to establish a pool for part-time and/or substitute instructors in this discipline. Applications will be kept on file for the fiscal year ending June 30. When a position becomes available, the hiring department will review the applications. After each fiscal year end, the application will expire and a new application must be completed to remain in the applicant pool.

Positions are available on days, evenings, and weekends. Part-time positions may not be for an immediate hire.

1. Prepare and deliver instruction to students.
2. Effectively employ a range of suitable strategies to foster student learning.
3. Stimulate class discussions and encourage active learning in all students.
4. Maintain proper class-related records.
5. Contact students outside the classroom due to student absence to relay information related to class work and assignments.
6. Maintain current knowledge in the field, vocation or profession.
7. Promptly assess student coursework and inform students of their progress.
8. Demonstrate an interest in using current and emerging technologies in the classroom and/or in online teaching.
9. Support the academic area and College through other work normally expected of adjunct faculty members.

Rate of pay: $765 per credit hour

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience with leadership at a community college or educational institution is a plus. Demonstrated teaching ability is the top priority. Instructional and leadership experience at a community college is preferred. Ability to use an online platform, deliver instruction online, and utilize technology for teaching will be given special consideration. Interest or experience in project-based, service learning, or inquiry-based learning is also valued.

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions

The work environment is typically moderate in noise level. Employees may frequently manipulate items with fingers, sit, stand, walk, hear, perform repetitive motions, and talk. Visual acuity is necessary for data analysis, reading, and computer work. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.

Required Qualifications

• A Master\’s degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field.
• Ability to use technology sufficiently to perform necessary job duties.
