Head of Technical Claims | London, UK

We seek a new position to help Lloyd\’s quantify and respond to large and reputational risk events, both current and emerging. The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert, providing trusted advice to the Director of Claims, leading technical claims aspects, and serving as the first escalation point for claims matters. Key responsibilities include:

1. Developing and managing a large loss protocol:
   • Stipulates triggers for large and sensitive events
   • Coordinates contributions from Legal, Reserving, Exposure Management, Underwriting, etc.
   • Uses an assumption-based approach to predict outcomes
   • Communicates key messages effectively to relevant audiences
2. Representing Claims with key stakeholder groups:
   • Inform decision-making on strategy, business planning, new entrants, and products
3. Harnessing intelligence from industry relationships:
   • Overlay macroeconomic, political, and climatic influences
4. Focusing on emerging risks:
   • Develop intelligence streams to identify risks
   • Provide regular reports through deep dive papers and reporting packs
5. Building relations with industry groups like LMA:
   • Monitor market response to events, vendor performance, and lessons learned

Qualifications include cross-class experience, ideally involving dispute resolution in the US, UK, and Europe, and an extensive network with global insurers, advisors, brokers, and managing agents. A comprehensive understanding of macroeconomic, political, and climatic market impacts is essential.
