We're growing and want you to be a part of our journey. The Head Development will lead Isio's technical development of solutions. This role is a critical part of Isio's digital journey and will ensure that Isio's technical solutions are delivered on time and on budget. The role will report into the Chief Technology Officer and will be a key part of the Solutions team. The role will spend significant time working closely with the Solutions Leadership Team and the Technology team. The role will work with all services lines and across all development projects.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Create and implement Isio's development strategy with a particular focus on near continuous deployments and the use of a platform approach built on modern development & DevOps processes.
  • Work with the wider Solution and Technology teams to design and implement processes and procedures relating to development.
  • Build a development team using internal and external resources to achieve the objectives of the Solutions team.
  • Lead Isio's automated testing approach to speed up delivery and ensure development quality is of a high standard.
  • Lead Isio's DevOps processes to ensure CI/CD is used across all projects.
  • Work with leaders across Isio to understand and deliver their requirements in the most effective manner.
  • Take responsibility for all development and testing environments and work with the Head of IT Operations to build an effective production deployment process.
  • Implement reporting mechanisms for development progress against key KPIs.
  • Work with stakeholders from across Isio to understand requirements of technical solutions.
  • Develop development and data processes in line with the wider group governance framework to ensure a consistent format and approach.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the Development team to develop and enhance understanding of modern development and data techniques.
  • Participate in Isio's CAB to ensure effective governance of changes being deployed to production systems.
  • Ensure development processes support Isio's ISO27001 certification and are built with security considerations as a key element.
  • Own and manage relevant data & development related suppliers to ensure the service they are providing is delivered to the agreed standards.

  • Creation, implementation and leadership of development strategy.
  • Leadership and people management of internal & external development teams.
  • Management and technical experience of building and maintaining Isio's platform solutions.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of modern development processes.
  • Experience in the use of DevOps to drive a culture of near continuous deployment.
  • Experience in managing a range of suppliers.
  • Robust project management experience.
  • Management of key stakeholders at all levels in a typical corporate environment.
  • Actuarial experience - alternatively pensions, professional or financial services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
