The Glasshouse College provides innovative and experiential education and training for young people marginalized by disadvantage, exclusion, or special learning needs. Inspired by Rudolf Steiner, William Morris, and John Ruskin, the college actively promotes the industrial heritage of the Black Country, craftsmanship, and entrepreneurship in traditional and contemporary industry and crafts.

We are seeking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic, and professional tutor to support the Biodynamic Land team to deliver high-quality tuition to groups of students of mixed abilities at Vale Head Farm, which is a 32-acre, biodynamic mixed farm in Kinver, Near Stourbridge.

• Deliver the curriculum to young people with social and learning difficulties, including:
• Responsible for delivering a curriculum covering aspects of animal husbandry and farm stock which embodies the Ruskin Mill Trust method of Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE).
• Deliver teaching and training with a therapeutic and supportive approach in line with the Trust method of PSTE, including delivery of qualifications, where appropriate and in line with student need.
• Instill enthusiasm and enjoyment into the learning process to increase self-esteem and enhance engagement in learning.
• Undertake ongoing assessment of student progress and learning needs, making reasonable adjustments as required to minimize barriers to learning and achievement.

• Experience of working with young people and vulnerable adults with special needs, challenging behaviours, and mental health difficulties.
• A teaching qualification or willingness to train towards a teaching qualification.
• Prepared to undertake the Biodynamic Training – “Growing the Land, Growing People” course, which is fully funded by Ruskin Mill Trust.
• Willingness to work flexibly – some weekend and evening work will be required to support the farm operation.
• Experience of animal husbandry.
• The ability to reimagine potential and possess an ambitious outlook regarding our students’ abilities.
