OVERVIEW
We’re working with a prominent insurance company to identify an experienced Claims Underwriter with a specialism in non-motor injury claims to join their organisation. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of personal injury and medical malpractice claims, ensuring top-tier service delivery to both customers and key brokers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fully manage a portfolio of personal injury and medical malpractice claims from initial notification to resolution.
- Review and confirm their policy coverage position.
- Develop and implement claim strategies, including the selection and management of external advisers and experts.
- Liaise and negotiate with customers, brokers, claimants, and their representatives.
- Demonstrate excellent file handling and claims management through proactive portfolio management, accurate reserving, and effective risk and indemnity costs management.
- Promote and deliver a continuous improvement culture within the UK Casualty Claims team to enhance the customer experience.
- Collaborate with underwriters to support business development and product enhancement.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our Claims service by identifying areas of opportunity and creating innovative solutions.
EXPERIENCE
- Qualified solicitor, legal executive, paralegal, CII claims professional, or insurance claims handler with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in handling personal injury and/or medical malpractice claims.
- Strong policy coverage knowledge and experience across a broad range of policies and business types.
- Robust understanding of litigation, legal processes, and dispute resolution methods.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Commercial acumen with the ability to understand the broader impact of claims decisions on the UK business.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to establish lasting relationships within the team, the wider business, and external partners.
- Results-driven with the energy and determination to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
