Platform for Indian Democracy is a movement that envisions a mobilised British Indian community that collectively stands up for a secular and democratic India.

Who You Are

  • A creative and compassionate individual who has two years’ experience of community organising.
  • A strong relationship builder who can demonstrate strong inter-personal and communication skills (both written and oral).
  • A dedicated individual who is good at organising large amounts of information, staying on top of deadlines and can work independently as well as within a team.
  • Somebody who has an understanding of the Indian diaspora in the UK.
  • A passionate individual who is committed to defending democracy, both in India and around the world.

What You’ll Do

  • Mapping the Indian diaspora in London by identifying and cataloguing the demographics, religious organisations, community groups (including women and youth groups), and civil society groups in the local community.
  • Build and maintain relationships with the identified stakeholders within the British Indian community.
  • Identify cultural institutions that can work with the Platform to organise community events.
  • With the support of the Platform’s central team, plan activities in London that align with the organisation’s strategy.

This is an outline of the role, and not an exhaustive list of duties. The successful candidate would also work closely with the Platform’s Project Manager where appropriate.

Successful applicants will be contacted by Friday 7th March 2025. Interviews will take place in the week beginning 10th March. Start date will be as soon as possible.
