The Role:
As an OME Shift Operations & Band Saw Supervisor you will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient processing of ordnance and munitions supervising operations within the Static Detonation Chamber.

Day-to-day, you’ll use strong leadership, technical expertise and a commitment to safety compliance in the handling of explosive materials whilst managing band saw operations used for munitions preparation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising and coordinating all operations related to the handling, processing and disposal of ordnance and explosives
  • Ensuring shift personnel follow established procedures for loading, transporting and treating munitions in the Static Detonation Chamber
  • The supervision of band saw operations that are used to cut and prepare munitions ensuring compliance with safety protocols
  • Ensuring all shift personnel wear proper personal protective equipment and adhere to HSE, DSA and MOD regulations regarding explosive materials handling
  • Leading and mentoring personnel providing hands-on training with all operations
  • Maintaining accurate records of shift activities, munitions processed, system performance and safety compliance

Essential experience of the OME Shift Operations & Band Saw Supervisor:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Previous experience in ordnance handling, explosives disposal or hazardous waste treatment
  • A familiarity with band saw, cutting equipment and industrial machinery
  • Previous supervisory experience in a military, industrial or hazardous operations environment
  • The physical capability of lifting heavy objects and working in confined spaces

Essential qualifications for the OME Shift Operations & Band Saw Supervisor:

  • A HNC/HND or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Ordnance Management or a related field or relevant technical experience

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Shoeburyness site. This role is a fully on-site role.

QinetiQ Shoeburyness is a significant test and evaluation facility specialising in defence and security technologies. The site is focused on Environmental Testing including the evaluation of various ordnance, explosives and related systems. Implementing measures to ensure that testing activities comply with environmental regulations and minimise ecological impact.
