Beck Theatre in Hayes is looking for an experienced Technical & Facilities Manager to lead our Technical Department. They will have operational management responsibility for the venue's technical stage team, casual and freelance staff as employed. They will work closely with the creative and production teams on both in-house and received shows and gigs, ensuring the highest artistic standards as a result of their knowledge and experience and the capabilities of our venues. You will be responsible for a range of technical and production services that support the core business of Beck Theatre. You will ensure that best practices are followed for maximum efficiency and that the most suitable working environment is attained for employees and visitors.
Duties of the role
- To be responsible for the provision of a full technical service to ensure that the highest possible standards of professionalism and presentation are always achieved.
- To manage the venueβs statutory, planned and reactive maintenance programmes and play a role in maintaining the operation of the technical and stage equipment to the desired standard.
- To take a leading role in supporting the programme of in-house productions.
- Responsible for the management and leadership of the technical stage personnel within the venue.
- Management of effective and timely routine servicing, testing and preventative and planned maintenance of building, plant, machinery, installations and the external grounds.
- Implementation of maintenance schedules, cleaning schedules, lifecycle capital replacement schedules and capital project planning and implementation.
- Management of all contracts with suppliers and contractors that relate to the cleaning and maintenance of buildings, plant and equipment.
- Management of all contractors on site, ensuring that all health and safety requirements are met, and all work is monitored, their performance inspected, and completed work signed off.
- Undertaking, recording and acting upon all routine inspections of the internal and external site including daily maintenance checks.
- Regular inspection of outside areas for defects and potential hazards including condition of boundaries, building exteriors, grounds and trees.
- Ensure that inspections are recorded, and records are maintained.
- Via delegation as appropriate, procurement of goods and services on the most favourable terms.
- To be a designated keyholder for the venue.

The Person
- Qualifications: ABTT Bronze (minimum) or relevant education and/or industry qualifications will be considered essential to the successful execution of the role.
- Experience: Proven successful management of permanent and freelance technical staff, promoting an ethos of excellence and the successful development of individuals to reach their own potential.
- Proven personal experience in the role(s) of; Theatre Electrician, Sound or Lighting Designer, Stage Manager, Production Carpenter or other duties relevant to modern producing and receiving theatres.
- Proven experience of the management of a full and effective technical service within a theatre or other live arts/events venue.
- Proven successful experience of the management of Health and Safety at Work in an environment comparable with that of a theatre or entertainment complex.
- Experienced in risk assessment writing and review.
