We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic volunteer who has experience of editing audio, to support our heritage project.

The project aims to gather and store historical accounts about the National Autistic Society from key contributors over the last 60 years.

All of the activities we carry out are essential in supporting and raising awareness of the National Autistic Society’s work, so you would be helping us to make a real difference.

What you will be doing

  1. Listening to pre-recorded audio material and editing to create cohesive and comprehensive accounts.
  2. Storing the edited content on a cloud-based system.
  3. Liaising with the project lead, project officer, and NAS web team to ensure effective storage.
  4. Liaising with the project lead and project officer to devise a user-friendly journey to accessing the information.

The skills you need

  1. Experience with editing audio content using Audacity.
  2. Experience with website editing.
  3. CMS experience (preferably Kentico).
  4. Confident use of MS Office & Virtual meetings software e.g. MS Teams.
  5. Good written and spoken communication skills.
  6. Great proofreading skills and great attention to detail.
  7. Enthusiasm for collaboration and teamwork.
  8. Confident in carrying out tasks independently.
  9. Enthusiasm for and interest in volunteering within a not-for-profit industry.

You will need access to your own computer and a good internet connection.

You will need to provide 2 references.

A Criminal Record check may be required depending on where the role is taking place.

When and where

  1. This is a home-based role.
  2. We are ideally looking for someone who can start as soon as possible and volunteer for two days per week; these can be done flexibly, however, meetings would be during office hours (9am – 5pm).
  3. We expect the role will be until approximately January 2025.
