We are looking for an experienced support worker prepared to cover potential sickness of workers that provide 2:1 support to a 7-year-old boy who lives in the Ashington area. This role is therefore a short notice, ad hoc arrangement on a zero hours contract.

The support is to encourage socialisation with peers and engagement in age-appropriate activities outside of the family home. The child lives at home with his parents and three siblings. He does need somebody who can calm his behaviour when he becomes overexcited. Support workers are required to support him in engaging with activities such as soft play while ensuring his safety at all times. You should be physically fit to undertake this role.

A car driver is not essential as there is a lot to do locally. However, if you are a car driver, you should have business use insurance as a necessity. Mileage will be paid in agreement with the employer.

  • Experienced with supporting non-verbal individuals or those with challenging behaviour
  • Able to work successfully alongside a second worker at all times

  • Have flexibility to meet the requirements of the hours
  • Be proactive and able to take the lead in appropriate situations

Hours Breakdown:

  • 6 hours on alternate weekends (fortnightly) during term-time (when required to cover illness)
