We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Children's Support Worker to join our team and provide vital support to children and young people in need. As a Children's Support Worker, you will work closely with children, families, and other professionals to promote the well-being, safety, and development of children who may be experiencing challenges such as behavioral, emotional, or physical difficulties. You will play a key role in helping children achieve their personal goals, build confidence, and improve their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support to children and young people in their daily activities, offering practical assistance and guidance to help them achieve independence and personal goals.
  • Assist with personal care and daily living tasks, including hygiene, eating, dressing, and mobility where required.
  • Support children with behavioral, emotional, and social challenges, creating a safe, nurturing environment to help them build confidence and coping skills.
  • Work alongside families, teachers, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to care and support.
  • Help children develop life skills, such as communication, social interaction, and self-care, through structured activities and positive reinforcement.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with children to encourage open communication and ensure their voices are heard.
  • Promote safeguarding and well-being by identifying potential risks or concerns and reporting them appropriately to ensure the child's safety.
  • Support children in educational and recreational settings, assisting with schoolwork, extracurricular activities, and social interactions.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of interactions, progress, and any concerns, adhering to safeguarding policies and legal requirements.
  • Work as part of a team, attending meetings, case reviews, and training sessions to improve the quality of care provided.
  • Support children in developing social skills, providing encouragement and guidance in group settings or individual therapy sessions.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of care plans tailored to the specific needs and goals of each child.
  • Encourage children to participate in community activities and support them in building positive relationships with peers.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with complex needs or challenging behaviors (preferred).
  • A genuine passion for supporting and improving the lives of children and young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and understanding in challenging situations.
  • Knowledge of child development, safeguarding procedures, and child protection policies.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to support children's needs.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight shifts (if applicable).
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
  • A full driving license is required, depending on the role.
