The Market Garden at Eversfield Organic, Devon is looking for a full-time, flexible assistant gardener and grower to join a small team. The Market Garden is expanding and we are looking for an experienced gardener to join our team on a full-time basis. Based on our family farm in Devon, the Market Garden was a new venture in 2020 that has been hugely successful, and we are looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working individual to help us continue our development over the coming year.

The role covers:

  • Organic vegetable production and packaging ready for sale in Eversfield farm shops
  • Planting and irrigating within a controlled growing environment
  • Tending to shrubs and lawns
  • Pruning
  • Chopping wood
  • Managing orchard fruit
  • Hedge management and laying

Experience & Skills Required

  • Experience within a horticultural setting (2 year minimum)
  • Chainsaw certificate (LANTRA cross cutting and maintenance or similar, as a minimum)
  • Experience using horticultural machinery and equipment, preferably with certifications
  • Attention to detail to ensure produce is picked and packed to a high standard for sale, and ability to prove this through previous job role
  • Skills and experience using hand tools, power tools, and woodworking are highly desirable to help with the practical building requirements of an expanding garden

This is a full-time position, and some weekend work will be required to cover irrigation and polytunnel ventilation. Weekend cover will be on a rotational basis within our team.
