Cadillac Formula 1 is excited to be on the grid for the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship. Our new team is gearing up for rapid growth. We have an opportunity for a Lead Engineer - CFD Methods to join the Team at the new Silverstone Facility. In this role, you will lead a group of multi-disciplined engineers responsible for delivering the required CFD capability for the team’s Aerodynamics department, through improvement to existing capabilities or the development of new methodologies.
What you will be doing:
- Technical lead and management of the CFD Methods group.
- Develop the CFD methodology to continuously improve predictive accuracy, efficiency and reliability of aerodynamic simulations.
- Collaborate with aerodynamicists, CFD and software engineers to optimize methodologies and deliver a fit-for-purpose CFD process which are adequate and responsive to the aerodynamic development needs.
- Work closely with the correlation group with respect to the analysis of experimental data (wind tunnel and track).
- Ensure that CFD simulations and analysis carried out within the department are aligned with the capability of the tools.
- Define best practices for meshing, turbulence modelling, and solver settings.
- Evaluate and select appropriate CFD software packages and tools.
- Overseeing the optimization, maintenance, and support of new and existing toolkits.
- Working and contributing across multiple disciplines of the CFD group; including process, external flows, internal flows, thermal modelling, and pipeline development.
- Conduct research and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in CFD technologies.
Requirements:
- Multiple years’ relevant experience in a similar role within the motorsport industry.
- Strong knowledge of fluid physics, numerical methods, turbulence modelling.
- Experience in programming (C++, Python, Java, or VBA) and experience with STAR-CCM+ and open-source CFD codes.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to line manage / lead teams effectively.
- Able to perform duties in a timely manner with minimal errors.
- Communicate effectively with key stakeholders/directors.
- Clear and concise communication.
- Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture.
