Litigation Associate

Description
To work as part of the team providing a full range of litigation services to the clients of the firm. This will entail supporting the partners, working with the associates and paralegals as part of a team and taking appropriate responsibility (according to the level of your experience) across a variety of contentious matters.
Instructed by a wide range of insolvency professionals, financial institutions, fiduciary service providers, commercial entities, onshore referrers and private individuals based worldwide, our expert teams are involved in a broad spectrum of litigation work. This includes insolvency and restructuring, commercial litigation (with emphasis on shareholder disputes and property related issues), fraud, asset recovery, regulatory enforcement, trust disputes, and alternative dispute resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing high quality legal input across all aspects of their client work to include researching, writing opinions, reviewing documentation, drafting court documents, communicating with clients, counsel and the court and preparing cases for court.
- Responding efficiently and effectively on allocated tasks.
- Taking appropriate personal responsibility for the management of matters.
- Appearing in court both as the advocate on suitable applications and with senior lawyers and leading counsel as required.
- Assisting in the business development initiatives of the litigation team as a whole in the Cayman Islands and across our jurisdictions.
- Manage such other activities/projects as may be required by the Partners from time to time.
- Working with and delegating to paralegals.
- Adhere to all policies, procedures and regulations as required and manage risk exposure in accordance with the firm’s policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- The right candidate will have a Cayman Islands, UK or another Common Law legal qualification with between 3 and 5 years post qualification experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience
- Relevant litigation experience.
- Excellent written and verbal English skills.
- Good drafting and research skills.
- Knowledge of use of research platforms, document management systems and Data Rooms.
- An understanding of key financial indicators and disciplines relating to time recording and billing.
