Responsibilities

This post is considered a Regulated Role with Children under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020 and, as such, membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.

The employment for which you are applying is exempt from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which are spent. Any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Education body and removal from the Register of the General Teaching Council.

• FOR VACANCIES AT DENOMINATIONAL SCHOOLS
  Evidence of Catholic Church Approval is required when submitting your application. A copy of the Approval should be provided to the Chair of the Panel prior to the interview. If the approval is pending, confirmation from the Church Representative will be sought that the approval application has been submitted.
• Denominational Primary Posts: Applicants for permanent posts must have the Catholic Teaching Certificate or Catholic Religious Education Certificate.
• Denominational Secondary Posts: Applicants need RC Approval for the school they are applying to.
