Senior Stress Analysis Engineer
Holt Executive are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Stress Analysis Engineer with a strong background in space, aerospace, or other technical industries to join our client in the UK.

As a member of the analysis team, you will play a key role in structural analysis, contribute to project work, and support design activities.

Your technical expertise will guide project teams in defining, developing, testing, and operating spacecraft for our missions.

You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and suppliers globally.

This position allows you to make a meaningful impact by addressing the growing challenge of orbital debris and contributing to the sustainability of space as a resource.

Responsibilities

1. Conduct stress and structural analysis at spacecraft, subsystem, and equipment levels.
2. Evaluate analysis and test data to support the qualification of spacecraft and ground support structures.
3. Ensure the structural integrity of prototype and flight components throughout the load cycle.
4. Develop test predictions to support static and dynamic testing efforts.
5. Provide design recommendations and communicate effectively with the Design Team and other subsystems.
6. Prepare, review, and present analysis work and conclusions to stakeholders.
7. Document all analysis work thoroughly, ensuring outputs are organized, trackable, traceable, and repeatable.
8. Peer-review analysis performed by team members.
9. Deliver work to agreed timelines and standards to meet mission objectives.

Essential Skills

1. 3 to 5 years of experience in stress and structural analysis within the space industry.
2. Expertise in structural calculations for metallics, sandwich panels, inserts, and bolted joints, following established standards and handbooks.
3. Skilled in creating, checking, and maintaining Finite Element Models at spacecraft and component levels.
4. Proficiency in static analysis, frequency response, random vibration, and shock analysis.
5. Experience using FEA software packages such as NASTRAN, Hyperworks, Femap, Abaqus, or Ansys.
6. Ability to process large datasets with automation tools such as VBA or Python.
7. Strong documentation and presentation skills to communicate analysis processes and conclusions.
8. Capable of presenting and justifying work to peers and stakeholders.

Desirable Skills

1. Experience with CAD tools like SolidWorks and PDM.
2. Familiarity with ECSS and NASA standards, guidance, and handbooks.
3. Understanding of the spacecraft product development lifecycle.

5. Sound engineering judgment with the ability to provide expert guidance on structural issues.
6. Proven experience in managing accountability for project deliverables.
7. Effective communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
