Office Attendance - Our roles are hybrid, with requirement to travel to either our Edinburgh or Glasgow offices 1-2 days per week, including at least 1 day in the Edinburgh office.

We’re looking for a motivated and solutions-oriented Financial Services Lawyer to join our legal team at Tesco Bank, part of Barclays Bank UK Plc. Our Legal Team oversees all aspects of Tesco Bank’s business and acts as strategic advisors to our colleagues. This is a career-defining opportunity at the forefront of the integration of Tesco Bank and Barclays, two market-leading brands.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be part of the wider Barclays UK Legal team, specializing in consumer bank lending and savings products. Your responsibilities include:
- Managing legal risk and providing targeted, commercially focused legal advice across Tesco Bank, including:
- Product terms and conditions and related documentation
- Customer journeys and communications
- Responding to operational, complaint, and process queries
- Managing outsourced legal advice
- Supporting the integration of Tesco Bank with the wider Barclays business
We need you to have:
- Qualified solicitor with a valid practising certificate in a UK jurisdiction (overseas certificates may be considered)
- Retail banking legal experience, either in-house or private practice
- Proven ability to deliver pragmatic, risk-based legal advice
- Strong relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders
And if you have any of these, even better:
- Experience in consumer credit and CONC, including understanding of FCA’s Consumer Duty
- Experience with non-lending consumer banking products
