Are you a commercially savvy property solicitor looking for a unique in-house role with breadth, responsibility, and real impact? At Dignity Funerals, we’re more than a leading provider in the funeral and crematoria sector - we’re custodians of heritage, space, and sensitive moments in people’s lives. As our Property Legal Counsel on a 12-month fixed-term contract, you’ll be a vital member of a dynamic Legal Team that supports a diverse portfolio of freehold and leasehold properties across the UK.

With hundreds of commercial and residential properties under our care, your legal expertise will help ensure our estates operate smoothly, legally, and sustainably. From advising on lease terms to supporting acquisitions, disposals, planning and enforcement matters, your work will directly influence how we manage, maintain, and evolve our estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate leases, licences, notices, and other key property documentation.
- Support on acquisitions, disposals, and Land Registry applications.
- Advise on planning matters, lease repair obligations, and property litigation.
- Work closely with Property, Estates, and Facilities teams to solve real-world challenges.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and external legal representatives.
- Advising on planning and enforcement, as well as reviewing and drafting basic applications and comments/objections relating to general planning permissions, listed building and conservation area consents, street trading licences, and advertising and signage consents.
- Advising on lease repair and refurbishment obligations, assisting with property litigation and title matters, and supporting the management of the residential and long leasehold portfolio.
We’re Looking for Someone Who Is
- A qualified solicitor with proven PQE experience in commercial property.
- Can deliver pragmatic, commercially astute legal advice with clarity and confidence.
- Has excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Is detail-oriented, well-organised, and comfortable handling a varied workload.
- Has a team-first mindset, contributing positively to our in-house legal function.
- Demonstrated understanding of using software packages such as Microsoft Office, as well as database systems to maintain records and client information.
