An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Legal Counsel to join a financial services business on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Reporting directly to the Head of Risk & General Counsel, you will play a vital role in supporting the legal affairs of the business and ensuring robust management of legal risk. You will work alongside a highly skilled legal team, providing high-quality advice and guidance to colleagues across the business, including the Board. The scope of the role is wide-ranging—covering commercial and IT contracts, data privacy, corporate governance, procurement, employment law, and investment management matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal support across a broad range of business functions and initiatives.
- Draft, review, and advise on a wide array of contracts and agreements, including employment, consultancy, procurement, and service contracts.
- Support responses to Freedom of Information Act requests.
- Advise on data protection obligations and help ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act.
- Contribute to corporate governance and compliance frameworks.
- Monitor and assess legal and regulatory developments through proactive horizon-scanning.
- Liaise with external legal counsel where specialist advice is needed.
- Support the firm in implementing changes resulting from new laws or regulatory updates.
