Are you looking to progress your career in Health and Social Care or perhaps take on a new challenge doing something you love? The Richmond Fellowship Scotland are currently looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Support Worker to join our services in Newton Mearns.

Our Newton Mearns Team provides support 24/7 to a young female who runs her own flat and vehicle. We support with all aspects of daily life, including support with medication, housework, meal preparation, cooking and personal care. A big part of the support provided involves socialising, so it is essential the appointed applicant is fun, energetic and loves to chat!

We are an organisation driven by strong values and a firm commitment to choice, dignity and social inclusion. Although we support over 2800 people throughout Scotland, we are committed to delivering services that recognise people as individuals and treat them with dignity and respect; just like we would all want ourselves.

Due to the nature of the role we are only able to accept applications from females who have a driving licence and access to their own vehicle.

Our Senior Support Workers are classed as Front Line Management staff and as such your duties would fall under three specific areas as follows:

  • Staff Management: Coaching and mentoring front line staff while providing appropriate support including regular supervision. Identifying the training needs of your team and ensuring that this training is provided. Producing the monthly rota for your team, taking into account budgetary requirements and ensuring that all staff meet their contracted hours whilst managing holiday cover and absence. Developing the ability of your team to produce accurate and effective support plans. Covering on-call shift work as and when needed.
  • Supported Individuals: Plan and facilitate meetings with individuals and important people in their lives in order to collate the appropriate information required to write an effective support plan. Effectively match supported individuals to staff members, keeping in mind the identified outcomes and goals to be achieved for said supported individual.
  • Organisational: Liaising with external agencies such as an individual’s family or Social Work Services. Ensure that the standards set by the SSSC and Care Inspectorate as well as The Richmond Fellowship Scotland’s own standards are always met. Positively represent the values of The Richmond Fellowship Scotland when engaging with all external agencies.

Requirements: For this fantastic opportunity you will need at least 2 years previous experience of supporting individuals within care and already have or be willing to work towards your SVQ Level 3. The successful applicant must also register with SSSC as a Supervisor in Care at Home and Housing Support Services on taking up the post.

If this sounds like the career progression you are looking for- we would love to hear from you! PVG checks will be required of all successful applicants; having a conviction will not necessarily debar you from working in this sector.

Closing Date: 16th January 2025 (We reserve the right to close this vacancy at any point). Schedule 9 Part 1 (1)(1)(a) of the Equality Act 2010 applies to this post. We encourage applications from diverse backgrounds and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
