Menzies Distribution Solutions are looking for a Planning Operator to join our team at our Central Planning Centre in Wakefield. The planning team organises the delivery and collection of product on behalf of Menzies Distribution Solutions Limited and its customers across multiple sites, covering various different contracts.

  • Working Week: 4 On/4 Off Nights
  • Salary: £33k Per Annum
  • 20 Days Holiday Allowance

Transport Planning Operator Duties

  • Based in Bardon Planning Centre with lone working but remotely supported by our Wakefield site and night manager and night team.
  • Throughout the shift, teams link to Wakefield and lone worker devices to support safeguarding and health and safety.
  • Dealing with issues that occur on shift and dynamically planning and replanning.
  • Ability to understand and use multiple TMS systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • You will need to be both proactive and reactive as you will be dealing with the night plan and any issues that occur, having the capability to resolve them while proactively managing the subsequent impact that the night shift will have on the following day shift.
  • Liaising with drivers and controlling drivers throughout the shift.
  • Be able to understand and influence multiple plans and understand our network.
  • Compile thorough handovers during the shift – a fully comprehensive, thorough handover will need to be compiled through each shift and handed over at the end.
  • Resolving admin issues and system compliance.

Transport Planner Requirements

  • A can-do, positive attitude with the ability and initiative to constantly revisit the transport plan and ensure the plan is as efficient and achievable as possible while still maintaining targeted vehicle earnings and customer service.
  • Previous experience in a Transport Planning Role (Mandatory).
  • Experience of working in a busy Transport office.
  • Knowledge of Drivers Hours, Tachograph, and WTD legislation.
  • Good standard of education and IT literate.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety.
  • Commercial understanding.
  • Knowledge of transport systems such as ESP, GTS, Transporeon, and Blujay.
