DIRECTLY REPORTS TO: Manufacturing Supervisor
EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIP: Clients
Internal Training Requirements: Environmental Awareness, STATS Internal Courses – Basic Level
Main Responsibilities:
- To weld complete tools/equipment to standards/procedures set out by STATS and STATS customers/clients.
- Work to and maintain a high standard of quality to the STATS products and services.
- Work in a safe manner at all times adhering to STATS safe systems of work.
- Carry out the movement of material/equipment within the shop area.
- Ensure that all defects to material, components or equipment are reported to the Manufacturing Supervisor.
- Ensure all relevant drawings, procedures and instructions are to the latest revisions prior to work commencing.
- Aid in the proposal and introduction of new welding/fabrication techniques to improve productivity or safety.
- Liaise with the Manufacturing Supervisor on any issues arising.
- Report any environmental and health & safety issues that arise.
- Work within STATS standards and company procedures at all times.
- Any other duties required by the Manufacturing Supervisor.
- Aid in the creation of risk assessments or other safety-related items as and when required.
- Liaison with the supervisor on any material, customer/project issues.
- Help with the proposal and introduction of new safety equipment.
- Maintain sufficient material and stock levels in the store.
- Maintain material certification and traceability for all material used.
- Ensure that all gauge/inspection equipment are correct and current prior to use.
- Help with training of apprentices if required.
- Support other departments as and when required.
Individual Quality and Safety Responsibilities:
- Comply with STATS and Client quality, safety and environmental management systems and procedures at all times.
- Ensure all accidents/incidents/near misses/hazards are immediately reported and relevant paperwork is complete.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in line with STATS guidelines.
Experience:
- Ability to work as part of a small, focused team working to high standards with client lead times being the delivery driver.
- Flexibility and shift working on occasions required.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings/specifications etc.
- The use of fabrication and welding equipment and test tools in a safe manner.
- Ability to use inspection equipment.
- Full understanding of various methods of fabrication and welding.
- Skill in planning methods of fabrication and welding.
- Ability to use lifting equipment effectively.
- Understanding of environment and health & safety.
- Competent level of understanding in engineering terminologies and fabrication and welding equipment.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical trade with good all-round understanding of welding techniques.
- Experience in Fabrication an advantage.
- TIG, Flux Core essential and sub arc experience desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
- Will have to weld to a standard of 6G; training will be provided.
Personal Qualities:
- Ability to work as part of the team or on your own initiative.
- Ability to work safely, effectively and productively with minimal supervision.
- A positive and proactive attitude.
- Good communication skills and can anticipate the needs of others when communicating and check for understanding.
- Attention to detail and ability to identify problems.
