To support our ambitious growth plans, we have a great opportunity to join our Environment and Safety Division. SOCOTEC provides a comprehensive range of water hygiene and consultancy services to help companies fulfil their legal obligations. This is an exciting opportunity for a Field Technician / Trainee to join an enthusiastic team based in the Midlands delivering Water Hygiene / Legionella Control Services to a wide range of railway clients across the UK.

We’re looking for a Field Technician to join an enthusiastic team, delivering Water Hygiene and Water Monitoring to a wide range of railway clients across the Midlands and North East & West of England. This is an entry-level position and as such, relevant training will be given. Your challenge will include carrying out water monitoring and sampling activities on the Rail Infrastructure to include:

  • Microbiological Water Sampling
  • Legionella Flushing
  • Legionella Temperature Monitoring
  • Legionella Compliance Inspections
  • Document Site Observations
  • Liaise with Contractors and Clients on site

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Preferably have experience in Water Hygiene tasks (but not essential, we are happy to train).
  • Knowledge of water monitoring activities and associated legislation
  • Experience of field-based sampling and monitoring
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills to be able to work to set deadlines
  • Be self-motivated and able to work alone and as part of a team in a busy environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Pass a Sentinel Medical and Network Rail Personal Track Safety (PTS) Certificate

Due to the nature of the works being conducted on our client sites, a medical assessment and intensive course will be organised by SOCOTEC. This is due to the medical fitness requirements set by our client to conduct the role. This role entails a significant amount of daily travel encompassing sites across the Midlands and North East & West of England.
