The Job

To say that this is probably the most sought-after Agency driving job in Greater Manchester is an understatement. Working for a global equipment rental company, you will be part of the division that delivers Lighting to the TV and Film industry. The standard of driver on this assignment must be high in all aspects, including driving ability, communication, a common-sense approach, being proactive, and having a clear understanding of the importance of the role. You will be starting early on 99% of the shifts, from 2 am to 3 am in most cases. The majority of the work takes you to the South of England, including London and South Wales. You will be working on a live TV and/or Film set or studio for platforms such as Netflix, BBC, etc. This is a whole different world from the usual Warehouse or Store delivery, with extremely high expectations regarding time sensitivity, appearance, attitude, and overall approach to the work. You will not be expected to do any handball or unloading of the vehicle; this is led by the Lighting Technicians/Engineers on the set. Your role is to make sure that the lighting is where it needs to be on time, every time.

When not driving a Class 2, you will be expected to drive a variety of vehicles such as hire cars, 4x4 Land Rovers, Pick Up trucks, and Box Vans, all paid at Class 2 rate. You are paid a minimum of 8 hours per shift. Although operating 7 days a week, generally you will be working Monday to Friday, with the occasional Saturday or Sunday if you are available. Drivers that we deem suitable for this client will be introduced to them, and depending on how you do, will depend on how much work you get from them. This client does not employ its own drivers, so there is no scope for a permanent job.

The Pay (PAYE)

  • Hourly Rate: Β£14.00 per hour
  • Saturday Rate: Β£16.00 per hour
  • Sunday Rate: Β£18.00 per hour
  • Overtime is not paid at a premium on this work. (Flat Rate).
