Are you passionate about walking and inspiring others to get active, outdoors and connect with nature? We are creating a team to support setting up and delivering walks across our beautiful countryside around Castle Ward.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Be involved in our walking offer, whether that’s leading the walk or helping to make sure it is safe and enjoyable. All walks have a leader and a back marker.
  • Assist staff with route planning and visitor information, with the possibility of offsite promotion and engagement with local groups.
  • Walk leader training will be provided and regular catch-up sessions with our walk Volunteer Manager. Incident management will be covered in detail during the Walk leader training including what walk leaders’ responsibilities are.
  • Being part of a team that may need to adapt and change in response to local needs, National Trust priorities or changes to government guidelines e.g. Covid.
  • Passionate about the outdoors and enjoy inspiring others to go walking.
  • Reasonably fit and healthy; able to carry a small backpack and first aid kit.
  • Enthusiastic about your local environment and are an ambassador for the National Trust’s cause to look after special places for everyone, for ever.
  • Available to volunteer on a regular basis.
