Our client is seeking a highly motivated Deputy Hospital Manager to join their dynamic team. They are a forward-thinking provider of specialist care services across four key areas: CAMHS, Acute Elderly Dementia, Specialist Education, and Supported Living. They specialise in providing essential eating disorder services for young people aged 13-18 whose needs can no longer be met in the community. Job Purpose: As the Deputy Hospital Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the Senior Management Team, sharing responsibility for the business, clinical and support service operations. You will work closely with the Hospital Director to ensure the highest standards of patient care and the financial viability of the hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing the hospital's operations, ensuring safe and effective service delivery.
  • Work within a flexible 24-hour rota system, including evenings, weekends and occasional nights.
  • Collaborate with the Hospital Director to deliver the business plan, overseeing staffing, budgets, materials and equipment.
  • Promote effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams and ensure compliance with CQC standards.
  • Maintain positive relationships with commissioners, NHS wards, and community teams to support hospital occupancy.

Clinical Duties:

  • Ensure the individual needs of service users are met daily, coordinating relevant meetings (e.g., CPA, GP, Case reviews).
  • Monitor and review clinical incidents, safeguarding issues, and escalate concerns to the Registered Manager.
  • Support the Registered Manager in governance activities, including participation in audits and ensuring compliance with statutory regulations.

Resource Management:

  • Oversee the day to day management of staff, addressing performance concerns and assisting in recruitment.
  • Ensure thorough induction and training for new staff, aligning with organisational policies.

Staff Training and Development:

  • Identify training needs and support staff development.
  • Coordinate training within the service and ensure regular supervision and annual development reviews for staff.

Additional Duties:

  • Lead inspections, contract review meetings, and represent the Hospital Director when required.
  • Participate in a Manager on Call rota and handle complaints in accordance with policy.

Legal and Professional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983, and other relevant legislation.
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold the confidentiality and security of all information.

Person Specification:

  • Leadership experience at a minimum ward manager level.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in clinical, support services, and business environments.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex matters clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Strong planning skills, including resource allocation and funding management.
  • Experience in compliance standards, quality assurance, and change management.
  • Experience in CAMHS-Eating Disorders (CAMHS-ED) is essential.
  • Experience in business development and service development.
  • Management or leadership qualifications.
  • Spreadsheet proficiency and evidence of commitment to continuous development.
