Job Title: Financial Accountant (ACCA/ACA Qualified) – 12 Month Fixed-Term Contract Location: Bromsgrove, Hybrid – onsite 2-3 days per week Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 per annum, depending on experience Industry: c£300m Turnover Business, Construction/Infrastructure About the Company: We are working with a leading company in the construction and infrastructure sector with an annual turnover of approximately £300 million. We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join the finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Key Responsibilities: As a Financial Accountant, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day financial operations of the business. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: * Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements (management accounts, statutory accounts) in accordance with UK GAAP and IFRS. * CIS Compliance: Ensure the business complies with the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), including preparing and submitting CIS returns to HMRC and managing contractor/subcontractor payments. * VAT: Oversee VAT returns and ensure compliance with VAT regulations, handling any related queries or issues. * Reconciliations: Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data. * Month-End/Year-End Closures: Manage the month-end close process, ensuring that all deadlines are met and financial records are accurate. * Audit Support: Liaise with external auditors to ensure smooth audit processes and provide necessary documentation as required. * Tax Compliance: Support the tax team with VAT, CIS, and other relevant tax matters, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations. * Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving financial processes and systems, driving efficiency and accuracy. * Ad hoc Reporting and Analysis: Provide financial analysis and reports to support senior management decision-making. Key Requirements: * Qualifications: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or equivalent experience), with a strong understanding of UK accounting principles. * Experience: Proven experience in a similar financial accounting role, ideally with a good understanding of CIS and VAT regulations. * Knowledge of Construction Industry: Experience within the construction or infrastructure sector would be a strong advantage, particularly with CIS and VAT regulations. * IT Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, Oracle, or similar). * Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of financial reporting and compliance. * Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with both financial and non-financial stakeholders. * Organisational Skills: Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
