Currently, we have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse to join the CAMHS Low Secure Unit, working with young females aged 13-18 who have complex mental health and emotional needs. The unit treats young people with complex mental health conditions such as PTSD, Attachment Disorder, and emerging Personality Disorder, often stemming from childhood trauma. The service focuses on rehabilitation and therapeutic interventions for individuals with high levels of need and complex histories, including those with multiple admissions to Tier 4 Acute CAMHS inpatient services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing nursing care and acting as a named nurse for a group of young patients.
  • Assessing, planning, and delivering care in collaboration with the patient and their family.
  • Engaging with service users to assess their needs, monitor progress, and provide therapeutic support.
  • Promoting and participating in quality improvement processes and clinical governance activities.
  • Providing accessible, clear information about care to patients and families.
  • Acting as the Nurse in Charge of the ward, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and effective communication within the team.
  • Supporting the multidisciplinary team in developing and implementing treatment plans.
  • Adhering to relevant codes of practice, national guidelines, and regulatory standards.

For this role, we’re looking for someone who has:

  • Active NMC registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid PIN.
  • Knowledge of NMC standards, guidelines, and professional practices.
  • A positive attitude toward service improvement & commitment to high-quality care.
  • Ability to apply flexible and innovative approaches to nursing practice.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with proficiency in IT.
