The main purpose of the role is to support the Credit Office for EMEA (ECrO) Group Heads and General Managers in developing and maintaining a sound portfolio within the credit appetite of the EMEA region, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The role involves assessing the creditworthiness of obligors in specific sectors/regions and making recommendations on borrower ratings and transactions for decision-making by relevant senior management with discretionary authority.

The Credit Office for EMEA (ECrO) major functions include:

  • Assessment and management of credit risks and related risks
  • Assessment and management of country risks
  • Management of problematic assets
  • Monitoring, reporting and early action
  • Portfolio analysis and management

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountability for actions related to the Energy Sectors: Reviewing credit applications and making recommendations to senior management on transaction-specific files, while actively monitoring the portfolio in line with internal policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensuring high-quality written and verbal communication.
  • Making balanced, timely, and well-considered credit decisions within the firm’s risk appetite.
  • Engaging proactively with the front line on deal-specific and strategic developments through guidance, feedback, and identification of red flags or breaches of policies, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Supporting strategic initiatives as a VP within CIB Credit for EMEA.
  • Developing knowledge of the industries, sectors, countries, and financial/legal structures within Energy Sectors, with a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Demonstrating the Risk Culture Pillars by identifying and mitigating risks, actively managing risk, and fostering a risk-aware environment.
  • Challenging existing practices and embracing change positively.
  • Representing the credit division at internal regional forums.

Work Experience Required:

  • Experience in credit within a global banking environment, corporate banking, or investment banking.

Skills and Experience:

  • Deep knowledge of credit and risk principles, products, and management.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify key issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred: experience in handling problem credits.

Education / Qualifications:
